The Naval Branch Health Clinic at NAS Whiting Field is a 33,000 square foot facility constructed in 1976. Staffed by approximately 12 officers, 40 enlisted, 14 civil service and 3 contract employees, NBHC Whiting Field’s mission is providing a comprehensive range of outpatient and ambulatory health care services to active duty members of the Federal Uniformed Services in direct support of NAS Whiting Fields mission of training Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and foreign military pilots. Health care services are also provided to TRICARE Prime and other authorized beneficiaries. The patient load averages 20,000 outpatient visits per year, with limited specialty services available. Organizationally, we are a Naval Branch Health Clinic in the Pensacola Naval Hospital health care system.
Naval Air Station Whiting Field has been in existence since World War II and is the home of Training Air Wing FIVE. Six squadrons call NAS Whiting Field home: HT-8, HT-18, HT-28, VT-2, VT-3, and VT-6. The economic base of the surrounding area is generally agricultural. The local town of Milton, Florida, depends heavily upon the military for its sustained growth. The cost of living is one of the lowest in the country and nearby Pensacola is a growing city with southern flair and a small-town feel.
